A Few Facts about the H.E.L.P. House

  • H.E.L.P. = His Eternal Loving Purpose

  • Our clients register that they earn less than the poverty guidelines of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

  • All are registered by household, including the children. Our monthly data show that 75% of our clients are either children or adults responsible for children (including numerous grandparents).

  • Last year, we distributed 201,924 items of food and 11,721 Monday soup kitchen meals.

  • Folks often think we get food for free from the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Not so! Our food bill for 2018 was $38,000 -- half our budget.

  • The holidays can be extra stressful to those in poverty and financial distress. Stores and media are full of images that heighten our expectation of waht the holidays should be.

  • May we all find our own ways of enjoying this season and sharing some time to help others who may not have the resources depicted in these idealized images.
